Apple Store has cancelled you

Subject of the email I got 30 minutes ago says it all, and I guess it's not that surprising in the grand scheme of things. So, if you were making plans, you should probably put them on hold. I don't feel like I have the real deal yet on what went down, but know some of you were buying plane and train tickets and such and wanted to let you know first thing. I've had some alternate venues suggested, so who knows.

That's incredibly sad. You'd think Apple would be a company that learned the value of keeping, not breaking, commitments and relationships with customers and first adopters who spread the word.

Maybe a VideoPodcast would work? That would be pretty cool. DrunkenOne, you may not think so, but people would really be interested in hearing/seeing you speak, and in-person would be a bonus. Don't discount the possibility.

I suppose you shouldn't have posted about their big webkit issue. :/
How eft!

You should do it anyway in front of their building so they can watch how many people you would have attracted to their store for them.

You are lucky. Normally when I have something cancelled from the apple store it gets put on backorder for a few months first.

After your last post, are you really surprised? The community may appreciate what you do, but Apple is not the community and that last post "Safari Image of Doom" would spook a suit.

Did they say why? PR-monkeys getting the wind up?

gasp. I'm going down there today anyway, so I'll inquire.

Webkit's opensource now - I'm not sure they care as much about bugs in it being disclosed as bugs in other projects -- but you never know...

I'm really interested in the "why" myself.

'Think different', my ass!

I think it's far more likely that the posts about changing the desktop on Apple Store machines freaked them out more than the WebKit thing. Of course, Occam's Razor suggests that there is an even more innocuous explanation.

I'm not really worried about it, as stuff happens -- I'm more just glad I was able to get in touch with the people who told me they were going to be flying in before their tickets were final.
I heard from a guy about an alternate venue that may be a little overkill, but I'll dig into it and see what happens.

bit of a bummer I must agree. plus for some reason your site went down for a bit earlier on. shame I would have loved to see the fallout of your talk. bit far to come from england really.

maybe they do not want you to upstage whatever it is they are introducing on sept 7?

That's pretty harsh. I was considering making the trek from Kansas City, too. Ah well. I suppose it's faster for me to log on to drunkenblog.com anyways. :)
